Always remembering that resistance creates form.

The laws of least resistance bind all living forms; this feeling and movement permeate all life and as a consequence, the best system will be utilised ad infinitum. These arrangements create the impression of ambiguity when in fact it is just a natural commonality. This ‘Sea life Series’ reflects the creatures’ solution to moving and living in a marine environment. Always remembering that resistance creates form. No resistance would result in vastly different designs. Water is probably as close as life gets to a weightless environment; so all the creatures design focuses on ‘movement’, against ‘support’ in land animals.

These studies are investigations into the feeling sense whereby the movement of the wood through shape and grain dictates the final form. All these studies contain a high proportion of original mass and surface. This is central to my work.
